Indie rom-coms are so next season

Paper Heart is released in the UK on 13 November 2009

The Ugly Truth was enough to make me lose my faith in cinema let alone romance, but a new clutch of indie rom-coms promise to restore our faith in love...

Starring the beguiling Zooey Deschanel, 500 Days Of Summer - a complex, non-linear story (much like dating itself) about a girl who doesn't want to commit and the boy who's in love with her - has set the US box office on fire. 

But the flick I'm really excited about is Paper Heart, a documentary starring Charlyne Yi, Superbad's Michael Cera and Zack And Miri Make A Porno's Seth Rogen, which sounds like it should be about a girl with a penchant for dating slackers (aren't we all?). In reality, it looks like an utterly charming and searingly honest tale about one girl's road trip: destination love.
