Our office is taking Valentine’s Day very seriously this year.
Not content with a message board where we can leave declarations of love on heart-shaped Post-It notes for each other, the company that brings you Now magazine, Marie Claire, Look, In Style, Loaded, Nuts and NME is holding a speed dating event hosted by – wait for it – Loaded Editor Martin Daubney.
Much as all the girls love Martin, even the most hopeless romantics would be cynical about putting Loaded Magazine and long-lasting love in the same sentence.
There are already several postcodes in London I have to avoid as damage limitation due to dating near-misses and head-on collisions – for the record, at the moment it’s NW1 and N19. Can you imagine if you couldn’t go any where near the photocopier or the staff canteen because you were dodging your date?
I’m pretty confident that the illicit frisson of excitement of an under cover office romance will surely be outweighed by the embarrassment of having to sit opposite your ex in a high-level board meeting, so I’ll be giving our office speed-dating extravanganza a miss.
Has your company pulled out all the stops for Valentine’s Day? Have you found love in the workplace?
