Alan Yau is my favourite restauranteur. (Over cocktails last week, the Editor of Wired UK - Conde Nast’s hotly antipicated new magazine launch - pointed out how pretentious it was having a favourite restauranteur...but possibly not as pretentious as blogging about having cocktails with the Editor of Wired UK.)
By bringing us Wagamama, Busaba Eathai, Hakkasan, Yauatcha, Alan Yau has had a hand in pretty much all my signature hot date destinations in the past 10 years – and that’s a lot of hot dates!
When it comes to his flavours, his interiors and the way he does business, he’s creative, ground-breaking, and not afraid to take risks – which coincidently are all the qualities I look for in a potential boyfriend!
So the launch of Cha Cha Moon, Alan Yau’s latest noodle bar just off London’s Carnaby Street, means I have a brand new hot date option. Expect the inventive flavour combinations with a South East Asian influence served up in moodily lit, super-slick surroundings. Second date not guaranteed.
And as it’s Chinese New Year today, I want to wish everyone Gong Hei Fat Choi, and may the Year Of The Ox bring you health, wealth and prosperity.
Check out Alan Yau’s Top 5 Chinese Restaurants In The UK and find Cha Cha Moon at 15-21 Ganton Street, London, W1F 9BN. Call 0871 962 0700.
