My faux pas at The Fratellis gig

Don't tell The Fratellis that the Backstreet Boys' Favourite UK stylist™ is their biggest fan

The Fratellis are my favourite band, and when I rocked up at Q The Music Club gig at the Hard Rock Café this week and was handed a VIP pass, I actually squealed with excitement - which, on reflection, was a reaction I should've played down, considering I was surrounded by rock music industry insiders and too-cool-to-care indie boys.

“So, have you styled any bands?” one of them asked me during their set as we were comparing JonFratelli's look to Marc Bolan.

“Oh yes,” I declared proudly. “I’ve styled the Backstreet Boys.”

 At which point he practically spat his beer out and said, “Er, I meant rock bands?”
