Every time Victoria Beckham leaves the house, she sets the fashion agenda, and it was no different when she debuted her new hair do at the Marc Jacobs catwalk show at New York Fashion Week.
VB revealed she was bored with her barnet, and told New York celebrity hairdresser Garren - who’s tressed the likes of SJP and J-Lo – to do whatever he wanted. The result is a Mia Farrow inspired cut the press have called The Pop.
Cynics suggested she premiered The Pop to detract attention away from her first fashion line which launched in New York at the same time. But her collection was so impressive that fashion insiders were suggesting it had secretly been the work of catwalk couturier Roland Mouret.
But, could the real reason behind Posh’s dramatic do be anything to do with her estrangement from her best friend and hairdresser Ben Cooke? As early as April, Now Magazine reported it’s been months since they’ve been seen together after Ben told her some home truths, and Posh didn’t like what she heard.
Since then, Ben’s been giving Leona Lewis what's known in the industry as some hair loving, and he text me minutes after the photos of the Pop hit the papers – because any self-respecting Style Editor who doesn’t have Ben Cooke on speed dial can’t be doing her job properly – telling me he had nothing to do with her new do.
So is Victoria’s new look a break-up cut from Ben? Or more salaciously still, is it a revenge cut? Which is a bit like a revenge shag but when you cheat on your hairdresser instead of your boyfriend.
