Hot Date Looks For Him

How to impress a Style Editor

Perhaps what Style Editor Alison Tay's date should have worn

So after weeks of checking each other out and cheeky winking over the salad bar in the staff canteen, the hottest boy in the building had finally asked me out on a date.

To put you in the picture, he’s well over six foot with blond hair blue eyes, massively out of my league, and somehow managed to do the standard-issue T-shirt, duffed-up denim and Converse look so much better than other boys. Some Style Editors get all the luck.

So you can imagine my horror he rocked up in a white ethnic collarless, buttonless low cut shirt on our first date, with the opening line “Do you like what I’m wearing? If you don’t, I’ve got a T-shirt in my bag so I can change? I can change my shoes, too?”

I hate it that some boys see Style Editor after my name and assume I care about what they’re wearing. I don’t. But just to help them out, welcome to Hot Date Looks For Him, a new series of Style Editor Approved outfits for men.

First stop, Topman, where this double breasted trench, £80, will instantly smarten up even the scruffiest of indie boys.
