It was a Saturday night, and The International Man Of Mystery in my life and I were at his West London shag pad discussing our brands.
(That makes us sound like TomKat or Brangelina. We don’t usually spend Saturday nights watching Shaun Of The Dead and discussing our brands. It was just that once. And for the record, he brought it up.)
I was still trying to forget that BBC1 had just asked me to be the poster girl for the new Bridget Jones generation of single-and-loving-it women, (“How does the BBC even know you’re single?” howled my girlfriends in disbelief), but as always, he had a smoother, more seductive spin on the situation.
“You’re Sex And The City, aren’t you?” he said without recognising the irony of being my real life Mr Big. “You’re Sarah Jessica Parker if she was living in London…”
He has a point. Like Carrie Bradshaw, I’m a party-loving fashionista about town who’d rather spend her hard-earned salary on the Mulberry bag of the moment than a mortgage. And like Carrie, I too have an extensive closet of fabulous fashion lust-haves, an inner circle of glamorous girlfriends in my corner, and even my very own Mr Big.
In fact, all that’s missing is my own sex column. Until now.
