Come on Robert Pattinson, you've GOT to forgive Kristen Stewart!
And shocked further to see steamy photographic evidence of the pair getting hot and heavy in a parked car in Los Angeles. Oh Kristen, what were you thinking young lady?
I reckon we've got all the answers we need in a quote she recently gave to a British fashion mag: ‘I feel boring. I can't wait for something crazy to f***ing happen to me. Just life. You can learn so much from bad things.'
There you go. Now, I'm not condoning cheating. It's not big and it's not clever. And 41-year-old married father of two Rupert Sanders should know better than to go around kissing young actresses - not cool behaviour.
But in Kristen's defence, at just 22 years old she's remained a model of good behaviour up until now - continually aware of her responsibility to her legions of young Twi-hard fans over the past four years.
At times it must be a fairly heavy burden to carry around their expectations while simultaneously trying to grow up like a normal human being off-screen.
What's less defensible is that Sanders' wife, Liberty Ross, played her mother in Snow White and the pair hung out at the film's many press junkets and premieres together. Ouch, Kristen.
(Interestingly, the whole gang's apparently already signed up to make a second Snow White film next year. I'm guessing the atmosphere on set will be appropriately icy.)
Also cringeworthy is the schmaltzy, self-pitying apology statement that Kristen released last night, where she said of Rob: ‘I love him. I love him. I'm so sorry.' I reckon a dignified silence would've been better.
So what about poor Robert? Well, rather than appealing to him to forgive his girlfriend, I'm willing to bet I don't even need to - because I know he will.
The lovestruck actor once said of his co-star: ‘It is true that Kristen has always done something to me that others haven't,' and I'm pretty sure he's too smitten to just walk away.
But if you are reading this Rob, Kristen's clearly learnt her lesson and knows she'd be a complete idiot to ever put your relationship at risk again in this way - she's got a great boyfriend in you and I reckon she knows you're not the kind of guy who'd go through this public humiliation twice.
Sometimes when two people click, chemistry kinda takes over and all thoughts of morals go out of the window. I'm not saying it's not wrong - but I think Kristen's indiscretion is a clear case of that, rather than some big calculated affair.
So I predict you'll forgive (although maybe not forget) her shady behaviour, she'll be contrite and won't ever put herself in such a reckless, vulnerable and - let's face it, stupid - position again, and K-Pattz will live to see another day.
You'll probably even go on a summer holiday together. And oooh, perhaps get papped kissing each other... Right, Rob?
