Celebs let their hair down at London’s hottest new salon

Fashion insiders had been whispering about it for weeks, so when the invite to celebrate the opening of new destination hair salon Percy & Reed landed on my desk, I was thrilled to have been among Paul Percival and Adam Reed’s favourite people and special guests.

But what I didn’t realise, was that their favourite people read like a glittering rock royalty roll call which also included the Kaiser Chiefs, the Sugababes, fashion designer of the moment Henry Holland, Spice Girl Melanie C, and none other than Mr Noel Gallagher from Oasis celebrating his 41st birthday with his girlfriend Sara Macdonald.

Fashion Week regulars may remember my first brush with Percy & Reed was when superstar session stylist Paul Percival teased my hair into a 60s sex kitten do when their doors first opened and together with Adam Reed – who tresses the likes of Sophie Dahl and Anna Friel - they’ve turned intimate 12-chair affair with elements of a home-spun 70s feel juxtaposed with sleek modernity in the well-heeled part of London's West End into a force to be reckoned with on the London salon scene.

As Adam explains, ‘We have always fantasised about opening a salon with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, where pretension is left at the door, and creativity leads everything we do. In Percy & Reed we have achieved that fantasy.’

And knowing that catwalk-worthy, come-to-bed barnet is only a hair appointment away, it looks like my fantasy’s come true as well.
