Now celebrity hairdresser and sexiest man on Planet Fashion, my old friend Gianni Scumaci, has just unveiled his latest pet project: a shoot for style bible i-D that recreates three cutting edge hair looks on - wait for it – a horse.
Think of a man who eats supermodels for breakfast with the looks of Gael García Bernal, and the sexual magnetism of…erm…Gael García Bernal, and you can imagine what’s so alluring about Gianni.
Gianni’s tended the tresses of Kylie Minogue, Erin O’Connor and Stella Tennant, yet has confessed the prospect of cutting my hair is enough to turn him into a nervous wreck.
Anyway, the third generation Calabrian coiffeur apparently sneaked up behind police horses on the streets of London and filled an entire wall of his house with photos of prospective model mares prepping for this project, and ended up spending £1,000 on hair extensions for his final filly.
Creative genius or cruelty to animals? Gianni reportedly subjected the horse to his U2 albums during his styling sessions, and having been on the receiving end of his record collection myself, I’m leaning towards the latter. But one thing's for certain: if stranger things have happened on Planet Fashion, I’ve yet to hear about them!
